yes!!! do tell ... if it's for the betterment 4 the forummers here, do let us know ... I'm sure there r some of us here who have joined AGN as members & would to know more ... If AGN isn't fulfiling its responsibilities & obligations, then it would be for the best interests of these people to know & decide if they would like to switch to others .. there are plenty others in the market to choose from ...
My 2 cents ... but Gian, thank you for highlighting this ...

here is what happened..
AGN close down their office in jakarta about 3-4 months ago without noticed.. before that it was already difficult to use AGN card in the courses where they (said) have cooperation. Feedback from course, cant use AGN because AGN has not pay the compensation to the course, so we have to pay normal green fees
I think AGN could not manage its cash flow very well... or too aggresive in taking member and forgot the CONTROL function. There are cases saying that some cards are being used twice in the same day at the same course.. but i personally think that AGN has the responsibility to control it also.
Some friends of mine just joined AGN for 1 month and suddenly it is closed.. so its money down the drain...
my card expires in June 08... but has not use it for months now..

Hey!! thanks 4 this important information Gian ... that's what forums like this is all about .. to alert people or specifically consumers of these kind of things ...
I think this would be of interest to Msian golfers as well bcoz I'm sure a lot of us golfers here do frequent Indonesia for golfing & are actively looking for membership cards that would not only offer discounts at courses there but are reliable as well...

I can probably thank my lucky stars that I decided to join AGS instead ... but then again, hopefully AGS isn't as badly managed ... btw, anyone here knows if AGS has any links with courses there in Indonesia??
Btw Gian ... is AGS (not AGN yeah!) represented there??? I am interested to know coz I intend to golf there in Indonesia more frequently so am looking to see if I could lower down some costs ... ;D

For info, some courses has increased their green fee for 2008, range of increase 5-15%.
and there is a new course just opened late 07, it is called Royale Jakarta a.k.a Halim 3. Quite a good course, i have never played there but just had a chance to look around.

Isn't AGN owners Indonesian??? If I'm not mistaken the owners are Indonesian & AGN started from there & then branched out to Msia ...

Thanks for all the feedback given on AGN and a very special thanks for Gian. What he said are true ... to an extend. Here is the complete story.
AGN was started in Indonesia but by 2 Malaysian. A year later, they came back and started AGN Malaysia. AGN Indonesia was sold off as a franchise business to an Indonesia partner. What we had was rights to play in Indonesia and vice versa. The Indonesian company was badly managed and since April 2007 stopped paying clubs. Clubs started shutting down playing right for AGN Members, both Indonesian and Malaysian. This have nothing to do with AGN Malaysian or its sister company, AGN Thailand.
Nevertheless, AGN Malaysian tried to save the situation by trying to keep the Indonesian Clubs open but was not successful. The situation became so bad that it evantually became a police case in Indonesia. After months of nego, the clubs finally understand the true picture and have started to open Indonesian clubs for AGN Malaysian members and sister companies. As of 1st January 2008, we have now 5 clubs in Jakarta as stated below. More to come as we work toward our goal of reopenning Indonesia back.
It is a hard and painful road but one we must take as we are committed to our members. AGN Malaysia is the best position today then ever before. We have expanded greatly in Thailand (3 club in 2005 to 15 club now), Singapore (1 in 2006 to 8 in 2008). Malaysia (1 in 2003 to 47 now). More clubs are being open monthly. Our latest clublist is avaliable at our website (www.agngolf.com). We now offer our own handicap program certified by MGA and USPGA. We also offer an instant corporate rate at over 40 hotels in Malaysia. You just need to flash your AGN membership card. The same applies for SPA, F&B outlet and many more lifestyle programs.
