Bro,

I pernah join AGN and still maintain SSG..

susah nak cakap Pros & Cons...masing2 ada advantage...the reason why I still use SSG is because the maintainance of Handicap Card with MGA is included.

Semua card yang you mentioned tu is yearly basis...which means you need to renew at whatever rate they offer at that moment of your renewal...no monthly fees...

What I can suggest is you check their website and see the affliated clubs...and also see the rate that you need to pay for weekdays or weekend...

then, you decide from there....

slowly later on, i will check every single website yg ada utk info selanjutnya...

1 more..., do the HC card will be issued by the MGA on monthly basis?
if yes..., then every month our HC akan berubah based on our scorecard yg kita submit?

Bro,

pasal handicap card, yes MGA will issue every month...kalau you tak submit any scorecard for that particular month, then your card will be issued with previous handicap index...

Based on your scores, normally MGA will take the best 10 scores from last 20 scorecards..if I'm not mistaken....

ehm...ic...much more understood...
tapi kan, let say...if we did not submit our scorecard within long duration time...,
(assume more than 1 year), do the HC still valid?
do the scorecard must be from the golf course that is in the MGA list...
or can be obtain from any golf course applicable?

susah jugak yea nak dapat HC nie... :-\ :P

Viosyah,

Nowadays, you kena ambil test before you get your 1st handicap card...bagus..sebab you kena tau rules, ethiquette etc...

it's valid since MGA will issue HCAP card every month..but if you played in between, then you should submit the scorecard...
not everything can be controlled...sometimes, it's all about honesty...

most of the golf courses in Malaysia is in the list of MGA...as long as it's in Malaysia and have Slope rating + Course rating....

Cheers!

Viosyah,

My criteria for the card is the payback period that is, how fast is your saving (actual walk-in rate minus dicount rate) to equal your investment (card fee). The faster the payback time the better. If you play regularly and on weekdays then this criteria can be met easily. Kalau you weekend player maybe need a bit longer time for the payback. This also relate to the card fee which ranges from RM300 - RM700.

Next, the club list in which the more reputable clubs the better.

Lepas tu the add-on such as the handicap maintenance with MGA, discount at golf outlets/stores and overseas affiliation. AGN was popular some time back because of its club list, handicap and Indonesian clubs affiliation. Sekarang AGN only so so sebab the overseas clubs dah merosot.

For clubs with local courses, AGS seemed to have a bit of an edge against GLI. SSG on the other hand manage some of the courses themself e.g. Danau, Beruntung etc. Like Ahman say, every card has its merits and demerits. But if you golf real frequent, any card will do.

really appreciate for the info...
i will try then look-up for the books that contain golf ethiquette & rules...

ehm...but what if the golfer (with HC) never submit any scorecard
for a long time period? do the HC still valid?   ??? ???
(i mean if the golfer quit golfing for some time)

for the card membership, i intend to take 1...but still a lot of things
need to consider... ;)

Brudder,

For golf rules and etiquette, you can refer to section Etiquette and Golf Rules. I ada post the link to USGA website. Even you can check the non-confirming drivers plus you can take some quizzes to test your knowledge about golf rules.

Regarding the HC expiry, I can check for you from one of MGA Referee...see if he can provide better info.

Pasal card, maybe you can include these things as part of your consideration:
1. Points stated by Pak Akhir (I used those criteria before I enrolled)
2. Your buddies..normally you have kind of regular buddies. If your buddies enrolled same card, then you guys can play at some courses together instead of few of them payiing at higher rate
3. Good courses affliation..when you play golf, it's not just for the sake of playing..you also for sure want to experience some good courses at lower rate.

The rest, I fully agree with Pak Akhir...the sort of "ROI"....

Cheers!

ok bang ahman...
checked & read the USGA website...really useful info...
so many things to learn from there... :)

pasal card...,
1 - point stated by pak akhir is logical...useful utk digunakan sebagai panduan
2 - i dont have any buddies yet...baru mula golfing...belum kenal sesape lagi...
3 - belum dapat rase feels main kat good course yet...green fees is the main
     consideration... :-[ :-\

thats y 'Return On Investment' is the main factor on the time of consideration which card to take...  ;)
